What
if my pet fails the blood test
Your
pet will need to be re-vaccinated and blood tested as before. The 6 month
waiting period will apply from the revised blood testing date. The usual
fees will apply.
What
is the procedure in the following years?
To
maintain immunity rabies booster vaccinations are required every two
years. If the booster vaccinations are given in time then no further blood
testing is required. If the booster is given outside the required interval
then a further blood test will be required.
Is
there a Travel Insurance Policy for pets using the scheme?
Pet
Plan has launched a travel policy to cover emergency vet fees, third party
liability and many other benefits, for dogs and cats travelling in the European
Union and other countries designated rabies free. Cover is available for
periods of travel up to 90 days. For up to date costs and more information contact Pet Plan on

Do
I need any other health certificates?
You
may require other health certificates in addition to the PETS passport to
enable you to enter or travel through certain countries with your pet. DEFRA will be able to advise you on what is required.
