Nutritional Information

A few points about feeding your cat or dog

When feeding puppies, kittens, adult dogs or cats it is always better to feed a good quality proprietary food to ensure that all the  nutritional needs are being met.  This is particularly important for growing or reproducing animals.  This is the best way to give them the right start in life.

Remember, some dogs such as giant breeds have special requirements  and will need to be  feed on a puppy food until they are 18 months old.  Several pet food manufacturers produce puppy foods specifically designed for these breeds.   Do not be tempted to supplement a balanced puppy food with vitamin and mineral powders.  Over-supplementation and over-feeding can encourage quick growth that can lead to cartilage and bone developmental problems later.

At Penstone Veterinary Group we are happy to advise you on your pet's specific needs.  If you want to know if your pet is at the correct body weight please feel free to use the digital scales at the Slough Surgery free of charge.  We can help you plan a weight loss program if your pet is overweight, or advise a special prescription diet for particular medical conditions.

If you have any questions about the dietary needs of your pet please contact us
